Is Society Morphing in 2020 or Collapsing?

Is society collapsing in 2020? The simple answer is a resounding no. While the experiments of self-government have indeed been corrupted by power-mad individuals, this does not equate to societal collapse. Rather, society is undergoing a transformation, much like it has before in 1960s when a generation evolved and transformed traditional norms. This transformation is not a linear process; it's a natural evolution that often appears chaotic or even end-of-the-world to those who cling to the past.

Society as a Morphing System vs. Collapse

It depends on what you mean by “collapsing.” I wouldn’t use that term; instead, I’d describe our society as “morphing.” To traditionalists and alarmists, current events may look like collapse, much like they did during the “flower power” era of the late 1960s. However, in 60 years, society has moved past that period, and we are much different from the 1950s. In another 540 years, the next generation will likely look at today’s events in the same way we view the past.

Crucial Systems and Modern Society

Modern society relies heavily on mechanized agriculture, factory automation, power generation, resource extraction, and waste processing—especially water management. A large modern city is almost like a delicate ecosystem, built on the foundation of these essential services. If any one of them fails, the entire society could break down rapidly. For instance, a failure in food delivery could lead to empty supermarkets within days, and people could face starvation within weeks. The fragility of these systems is a critical aspect of our current societal structure.

Political Corruption and Societal Morale

Our society isn’t as flawed as the corrupt politicians who abuse their power. These individuals, who often work closely with Vlad and do harm to our nation for their own gain, create chaos for political and social stability. It’s crucial to remember that the average citizen isn’t as bad. We are engaged in and for the greater good of the country, even if we see the politicians from both sides as self-destructive tools that thrive on sabotage.

The political landscape is filled with incompetence and corruption. Think of the 1960s and 1970s, where riots and political protests were common. Nowadays, the challenges might look different but are no less intense. Women face mistreatment, people are acting dangerously, and political hacks are reaping benefits that undermine democracy. The media is solely focused on ratings, and we have a list of scandals ranging from sports to politics. It's a bleak picture, but it could improve, or things could get significantly worse in a short time.

Reforming and Protecting Society

Is society in the toilet bowl? Yes, and unfortunately, there are individuals with machine gun guards paid for by taxpayers who are not enforcing existing gun laws, arguably allowing more chaos to fester. A moral dilemma lies in addressing immigration concerns, with billions spent on an issue that could be resolved with better policy. Democrats, Republicans, and everyone in between must take responsibility and work towards a stable and just society, remembering the lessons of the past. The hope for the future lies in the hands of those who wish to rebuild and restore the foundations of our democratic institutions.

So, while it’s easy to be pessimistic, it’s crucial to stay informed and engaged. Society is in a state of transformation and could see better days ahead. Every generation has its challenges, and ours is no different. Hang in there and be less unhappy. Together, we can overcome the current turmoil and create a better tomorrow.
