The Happiest Moments in Travel: Stories from Around the World
About Me
I am a seasoned travel enthusiast who has delighted in stunning experiences around the globe. My favorite escapades are encapsulated in two unique stories that bring tears of both joy and nostalgia.
Transformative Journeys
From Bengaluru to Mysuru: A Journey of Quirky Delights
One of my most cherished recollections of the happiest times in travel occurred during a three-hour morning train journey from Bengaluru to Mysuru, the city of the impressive Mysore Palace.
I was seated with a family that included a 8-month-old baby, now waking up in the morning, and she was already napping for half of the journey, which lasted approximately two and a half hours. When the adorable little one got up, kicked off her nap and started crying due to hunger, the situation quickly became challenging. Her entire family struggled to feed her with milk from a bottle, but the baby wouldn't be consoled.
As the crying persisted for more than half an hour, it began to disturb everyone in the compartment. I asked the baby's mother if she had milk with a touch of sugar, as the baby only consumed her milk with sugar. Upon discovering that the baby refused to drink it without sugar, I shared my own supply of sugar from my bag. I handed it over, and the baby's mother promptly added it to the milk.
The baby's smile was as precious and clear as a million dollar smile. Furthermore, she continued to exude joy during the entire journey, and I had the joy of playing with her. I witnessed the gratitude of her parents as they expressed their heartfelt thanks.
A Transcontinental American Adventure
Another of my blissful travel moments took place during my cross-country Amtrak train trip from Chicago to San Francisco, a journey that transformed my perception of travel. This trip was undoubtedly the most fulfilling of my life, far surpassing even my overseas adventures, and I found it more enjoyable even than my African photo safari.
I secured a sleeper berth on the train and barely had the chance to rest as the allure of the Great American West drew my attention. The train offered breathtaking views that could only be appreciated from the looks of it exclusively. The train's route, which remains close to the 1970s itinerary, holds a cherished place on my bucket list to embark on again.
I made several exit stops at various cities to explore local attractions, such as the inside of an old mine in Cripple Creek, Colorado, and a traditional melodrama in a historic hotel. I visited the Grand Canyon, an unforgettable experience in my life. Additionally, I was surprised by the quality of the food served on the train and the wonderful people I met along the way.
Reflections on Joyful Travel
Both of these travel stories encapsulate the warmth of human connection, the beauty of unexpected encounters, and the power of a shared moment of happiness.
